In addition to celebrating the 20th anniversary of our fundraiser, we are celebrating the 60th Anniversary of St. Bruno Parish School, as well as the 25th anniversary of the presence of the man, the myth, the legend, Eddie Phillips at St. Bruno’s. Eddie so generously donated as a live auction item this year, a day to hang out with Mr. P this summer -- Bid high, bid often -- but it got me thinking about how amazing it has been to have Eddie as a presence in our school leading our children through their middle school years - the middle school plays, the DC trips, the amazing graduations, and videos. What a wonderful role model he is for all of our children over the last 25 years. I think we’d all like to “hang out” with Mr. P this year in celebration.
As part of the live auction, we would like to take a moment AS A SURPRISE, and recognize his service to our school. We would like to host an open house this summer with a mass and picnic to follow for Mr. P to hang out, have some fun, and most importantly play some football with some of the grads.
I am suggesting, as a group of alumni parents, that we provide financial backing to this gathering as a thank you for his service. I am looking for 50 families to donate $100 per family or some combination to each that total. To be clear, this is not an auction donation, but an outright gift of a party that would be presented at the auction to the Phillips family. You and your alumni’s attendance, along with your financial gift will ensure that Mr. P is celebrated. All that know him knows that he would love to catch up his former students. Our plan is to put up a tent in the parish backyard and provide some picnic food and drink.
